The Pioneer Movement is the annual giving fund for the University of Denver - Division of Athletics and Recreation. It is designed to support our 17 Division I varsity sports and all recreation programs, while providing the division with maximum annual financial flexibility.
Pioneers Reinvesting in Denver Excellence is a fund that was developed several years ago as another avenue for student-athletes to show their “pride” in their team, program and athletic department through a financial contribution. The commitment is not about the amount given, but showing your fellow Pioneers that you are united as one team of student-athletes who are driven to make this Division of Athletics and Recreation and University a better place. In 2011-12 fiscal year we achieved 100 percent, and proved once again that giving begets giving, and will continue to make our Division the best in the country.
The D-Club was re-launched to engage and reconnect all past and present Pioneer Letterwinners in the proud tradition of being a Denver Pioneer. Our collective experiences wearing the crimson and gold have provided us a strong foundation for success. We must continue to carry on that unwavering Pioneer Spirit for generations to come.
The D-Club’s $18.67 membership fee is then directed to endowing a scholarship (The D-Club Alumni Scholarship Fund – with each $25,000 raised, we can award an additional scholarship.)
The mvmt Is the young alumni arm of the Pioneer Movement. This group consists of those alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years. Many of the benefits that current Pioneer Movement members receive this group is able to enjoy at a lower gift level. Many recent graduates haven’t reached their earning potential, and this period of time enables them some financial flexibility while still providing an avenue to support their Pioneers.
Pioneers Mean Business
An endowment gift is one of the most powerful gifts you can give to Denver Athletics. This gift provides a steady source of scholarship assistance and lessens the financial burden on the Division and the University as a whole. An endowment gift allows you to forever support Denver Pioneer Athletics and will leave a lasting impression on the student-athletes’ lives. All donors have the opportunity to give to the endowment. An initial gift of $25,000 payable over five years is required to begin an endowment, and there are a variety of giving options to fulfill this commitment.
Pioneers for Pioneers
Are contributions made by Employees within the Division of Athletics and Recreation back to the University. Our employees have embraced the Pioneer Spirit and have chosen to support all areas within the University including Athletics and Recreation. In the 2011-12 fiscal year, we received 100 percent participation from our 128 full-time employees, proving again that the Pioneer “team” is truly committed to making a difference.
Any current University of Denver student who wishes to support through a financial contribution to the vision and mission of Pioneer Athletics and Recreation can make a contribution and join the Pioneer Movement. This gift by current DU students truly shows the passion and desire to continue and enhance the legacy of being a Denver Pioneer.
